The Cashmere Sale wasn’t born as a business but rather a small get together of like-minded friends in a Greenwich Connecticut living room. What started out as a few good friends sharing thoughts and opinions on new fall arrivals of cashmere sweaters from our founder’s apparel company, quickly turned into a socially-oriented shopping concept. In our wildest dreams, we never expected our shared love of cashmere to ignite the phenomenon...The Cashmere Sale.
Fast forward about 20 years...our passion and commitment has grown The Cashmere Sale into a not-to-be-missed social shopping event in locations nationwide. By offering online shopping and limiting our nationwide pop-up stores to once a year, we eliminate traditional brick and mortar expenses and pass the savings onto you.
Over the past two decades, our local managers have built highly successful businesses and established many lasting friendships within their communities. Through their efforts these brand ambassadors have moved far beyond the intimate living room setting to what we are today. We can proudly say that this part of our story hasn’t changed, it’s still all about getting together with our cashmere family of friends.

Cashmere isn’t just the finest and warmest yarn, but it is also extremely durable. It originally comes from rare fibers found in goats that reside in Mongolia and China and later is sorted based on quality, thickness, and length. Because these goats typically generate 150 grams of fibers per year, the scarcity of such delicate materials creates for high demand and low product. This imbalance is what makes cashmere so desirable.
When finding your perfect cashmere match it is important to understand how it is made. The number of “ply” is a great way to detect its quality. Ply is known as the number of strands twisted together to create the yarn used to make cashmere garments. There are two standards: a single and, what we always use, double ply. A single ply means that the quality is a smidge less durable and holes might form more quickly, while double ply indicates that the sweater will be more sturdy, softer, and warmer.
